An Early Look at the Weekend Ahead

Other Mar 03, 2022

Baseball might be just a fantasy right now with the MLB season now in peril and facing the dreaded postponement of opening day. Nonetheless, that still leaves plenty of NHL, NBA, MMA, and college basketball action heading into what promises to be a very busy weekend.

Here are some of the premier matchups we'll be watching closely in the coming days:

Friday -- The NBA's biggest game is the battle of the East as the Milwaukee Bucks take on the Chicago Bulls (7:30 pm ET); Seven games pack a busy NHL schedule, with the Pittsburgh Penguins at Carolina Hurricanes matchup among the most intriguing (puck drop at 7 pm ET); In college basketball, several conference tournaments begin play, and "one-and-done" elimination games will continue over the next two weeks.

Saturday -- On Saturday night, it doesn't get much bigger or better than the Philadelphia 76ers heading into Miami to take on the red hot Heat (tip-off at 8 pm ET); The NHL's premier games include Vancouver Canucks at Toronto Maple Leafs (7 pm ET) and Calgary Flames at Colorado Avalanche (10 pm ET), which are just 2 of the 10 games scheduled; UFC 272 is also underway with the highly-anticipated Colby Covington vs. Jorge Masvidal fight as the Main Event (bell rings at 10 pm ET).

Sunday -- As for Sunday, how about an 2021 NBA finals rematch? The world champion Milwaukee Bucks take on the runner-up Phoenix Suns starting at 3:30 pm ET. Eight NHL games will also tempt us to watch and make a bet.

In the coming days, we'll be posting more detailed breakdowns of these premier matchups.
