Best Bets for NFL Week #8 [Hitting 66 Percent Winners, to Date!]

NFL Oct 30, 2020

Previous Day’s Record: 3-0

Overall Record: 14-7

We're on an 8-1 run during the past three weeks and loving life here at Best Bets (EXCLUSIVELY AT POINTSPREADS.CA!), where we try to make you money and are on the Kyler Murray for MVP bandwagon.  Note that I have him in both of my Fantasy leagues and has gone from “nice late round pick, Lamar Jackson lite” to reliable 30+ points per week stud.

Kyler and the Arizona Cardinals are on a well-deserved bye week after giving their fans a collective heart attack last Sunday night, but there is plenty of action and hard hits to witness as we near the halfway point of the 2020 season.

Let's check out the latest odds at SPREADS.CA as of Friday:

Miami Dolphins (3-3) vs Los Angeles Rams (5-2)

Me on Monday: Ha! Hell, no. I am not touching this game with a 10-foot pole and the strictest social distancing guidelines you could enforce.

Me on Thursday: Tua is the greatest mystery of the week, but the genuine faith both his coaches and his teammates have professed in him is intriguing and encouraging, at the very least.

Dolphins head coach Brian Flores has proven he is no fool. He knows Aaron Donald is on the opposing defensive line, but he also knows about the Rams’ misdirection schemes and his defense has improved at pressuring the quarterback.

The Rams will win, but the Dolphins will cover.

My pick: Take Miami plus the points at +3.5 or higher....Dolphins 24 – 27  Rams (-3.5)

Baltimore Ravens (5-1) vs Pittsburgh Steelers (6-0)

The real Game of the Week features Baltimore and its studly defense against undefeated Pittsburgh and its stable of wide receivers.

Lamar Jackson has only played against the Steelers once in his career, and that was during a 26-23 win during Week 6 last season. They won that game despite him throwing for just 161 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions while carrying the ball 14 times for 70 yards.

It’s reasonable to expect Lamar to run less and pass both more times and more effectively, but his wide receivers will need to show up in a way that they haven’t so far this year.

The Steelers will continue their undefeated run in a hard-fought contest.

My pick:  Take the team that's on fire at the moment, getting points....Ravens  23 – 24  Steelers (+3.5)

New York Giants (1-6)  vs  Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-2)

Mmm….Tom Brady and one of the most potent passing offenses in the NFC or Daniel Jones and the league’s third worst in that same category in terms of yards per game?

If Saquon Barkley was healthy and available, I would tell you there is a chance that the Giants could keep Brady off the field long enough to have a shot. He isn’t, they won’t, and they won’t even cover.

My pick:  This one should be a lop-sidded mismatch....Giants  13 – 30  Buccaneers (-12.5)
