Two Canadian Teams Face Critical MLS Tests: Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps Headline Sunday's Soccer-Betting Action

Other Jul 26, 2020

Two Canadian teams will headline Sunday's Major League Soccer action.  Both games tonight will include teams from the north facing off against their American counterparts.

The "MLS is Back Tournament" continues in Orlando, which has been hosting games daily since the league resumed play two weeks ago.  The league has enjoyed a boost in popularity since it was the first major team sport in North America to return to action.  Despite significant adjustments made to accommodate health and safety concerns, league games have been a success.

Toronto FC (2-0-3), MLS runner-up last season and presently ranked second in the East, plays New York City FC (1-0-4) in what looks to be a mismatch.  Action starts at 8:30 pm local time.

Toronto is unbeaten, winning two matches and picking up two draws.  They should handle a lackluster New York team handily, scoring just two goals in its last three games, with a minus-2 goal differential.

However, it should be noted this is a rematch of the Toronto-New York playoff clash won by the Canadians, 1-0 last season.  READ MORE HERE.

The bigger mismatch appears to be Vancouver (2-3-0), which is a prohibitive underdog versus Sporting Kansas City FC (4-1-0), currently atop the standings in the West.  Action starts unusually late, at 11:00 pm local time.

This will be a Round of 16 knockout stage game, which means Sporting Kansas City should dispose of their inferior opponents with ease, at least in the minds of most bettors.
