Well, the Canadian Football League is back in play. The 2021 season began last Thursday night with the first game in nearly 20 months. All four games played during Week 1 were wildly entertaining and even provided several surprises.
As for wagering, the underdogs barked loudly and bit the favourites in the backside. All four teams getting points covered the spread. Three underdogs even won the games outright.
Accordingly, the first CFL power rankings with game results are out. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers currently own the top spot. The shocker here is the #9 team, the Ottawa Redblacks. Despite a shocking upset win over the Elks in Edmonton, there's no respect for the team from the capital city. Hey, shouldn't the team that lost to the so-called "worst team" be ranked last? Yeah, we're talking about you – Eskim.....err, we mean Elks.
Here's the complete power rankings #1 through #9 according to the official CFL website:
Note that we'll post Week #2 picks and predictions from our in-house handicapper Nick on Thursday morning.
