Favoured Oilers Aim to Retake Command Versus Stubborn Kings in Critical Game 5

NHL May 10, 2022

Best-of-Seven Playoff Series Returns to Canada with Edmonton and Los Angeles Tied at 2-2.

Just when it looked like Edmonton was about to run away with the Round One series, two nights ago in Game 4, Los Angeles played perhaps their best game of the entire season. On the brink of falling behind 3-1, the more determined Kings blanked the Oilers 4-zip and regained some much-needed confidence.

Now, the two teams return to Alberta for Game 5, which is a crucial matchup for both teams.

The puck drops at Rogers Place at 9:00 pm EST / 7:00 pm MST.

According to Spreads.ca, the Oilers are a sizable favourite of 2:1. The Over/Under has been set at 6.5 goals.

Prediction (powered by Pointspreads.ca):

The Kings are simply priced too generously to pass up making a wager.

While the Oilers are the better team overall, we have to go with the generous payback by taking the live underdog.

In a series that's been wildly unpredictable so far, don't count out Los Angeles riding the momentum of the previous victory. Not only was Jonathan Quick terrific in Game 4 by stopping 31-of-31 shots to shut out the Oilers, LA seemed to find a possible answer to combatting scorers Connor McDavid and Lion Draisaitl. In Game 4, Kings head coach Todd McLellan switched up the forward line, which proved effective.

Yes, the Oilers should win it based on popular opinion and look better on paper, but the price compels us to take the Kings who have shown lots of heart.
