RAPTORS DESPERATE TO REGROUP AGAINST SIXERS IN GAME 3

Now, it's crunch time for Toronto.

After two horrid performances in Games 1 and 2 of the NBA playoffs opening round, including losses by a combined 35 points, the Raptors have their backs against the wall and their sneakers hanging off a cliff.

On Monday night, Toronto showed no ability to slow down the hot-shooting 76ers, who were sparked by an early run and essentially blew out any chance of watching a competitive contest. As with Game 1, once again, there was never a doubt about Philadelphia winning easily and covering the spread.

However, there might be some reason for optimism. The Raptors have been in this identical spot before. In their 2019 NBA championship season, this team was down 0-2 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Then, they suddenly won 4 straight games and sent the Bucks home packing. History repeating itself won't be as easy given how talented the 76ers are. Toronto's prospects are even thinner given some injury issues and a smothering Philadelphia defence that once again held the Raptors in check for most of the night.

With Philadelphia holding a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, Game 3 will tip-off Wednesday night at 8:00 pm EST.

OPINION (powered by Poinstpreads.ca):

Given the way they've been dominated so far, Toronto simply can't be trusted to fix things and turn this into a competitive series. They've looked badly outclassed in every facet of the game.

In fact, there is a misconception when it comes to teams “bouncing back” from bad first-round losses. Teams that lost their previous game by 10 points or more are just 40-67 SU and 44-62-1 ATS in the next contest.

These trends combined with what our eyes have seen tell us to bet on Philadelphia in Game 3.
