Miami and Boston tip-off on Saturday night for Game 3 of their NBA Playoff Series, which is now tied at 1-1
The 2022 Eastern Conference finals change venue for the first time on Saturday evening. TD Garden will host Game 3 between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat in front of a raucous crowd.
The Celtics and Heat are tied up at 1-1 in the best-of-seven format after Boston bounced back with a 25-point victory in Game 2 on Thursday night.
This time, injuries could be a significant factor since Kyle Lowry (hamstring), P.J. Tucker (knee), Gabe Vincent (hamstring), and Max Strus (hamstring) are all listed as questionable for the Heat, while the Celtics report no major injuries. So, Boston enjoys some definite advantages in this next matchup.
The tipoff is at 8:30 pm EST. Spreads.ca lists Boston as a 6.5-point home favourite, while the over-under is 208 in the latest Celtics vs. Heat odds.
Prediction (powered by Pointspreads):
Everyone appears to be betting on the Celtics, and it's easy to understand why. The Heat may struggle with scoring enough points to keep up with the Celtics. They've had a tendency to go on scoring droughts and struggled this season against the league’s best defensive teams (9-13 vs. top-ranked defences) -- and that was at full strength. Now, they are short-handed.
After missing Game 1, having the Defensive Player of the Year back in the starting rotation makes a big difference for Boston. The Celtics now have two of their best defenders back on the floor in Horford and Smart and showed why they are the #1 ranked defense in the NBA.
The Celtics’ hot shooting has also continued into this series. They shot 20-of-40 from behind the arc in Game 2 and should post decent overall percentages given the Heat are depleted on their side of the court.
The zig-zag theory often works when betting playoff basketball, but not this time. We'll jump on the bandwagon and fade the Heat, thereby taking the Celtics to win and cover.
