Heavily-Favoured Flames Pushed to the Brink by Underdog Stars: Game 7 Sunday Night in Calgary
Here's why we like Dallas on the puckline in a low-scoring game at Calgary
Can the vastly-underestimated Dallas Stars pull off what would be the most monumental playoff upset of Round One?
That's certainly possible when the 7th-seed in the Western Conference takes on the 2nd-seed in what many experts thought was an unforeseeable Game 7.
Fact is, Dallas wasn't supposed to be here at all. But the Stars have survived and thrived at times with stubborn defence, outstanding goaltending, and some timely scoring to draw the best-of-seven playoff series even at three games apiece. After winning a 4-2 thriller in Dallas two nights ago in Game 6, this team believes it can win.
Now, the pressure's all on Calgary to play up to lofty expectations and prove why they're considered one of the top threats to win the 2021-22 Stanley Cup. The Flames were ranked second only to the top-seeded Colorado Avalanche in the West, a conference final many are still expecting to see in a few weeks.
Spreads.ca shows Calgary as 1.52 favourties at home, which comes back at 2.55 on Dallas.
The puck drops at the Scotiabank Saddledome at 7:30 pm MST / 9:30 pm EST.

Prediction (powered by Pointspreads.ca):
We think Dallas has proven themselves at this point. As in, what exactly does it take to show the public that this team probably isn't going to win the Cup, but they can certainly beat any opponent on any given night?
Indeed, while Dallas certainly is not in the same class as Calgary talent-wise, anything can happen in a playoff series when one team is playing well on defence and goaltending. The Stars have more than a fighting chance.
However, we think the better value with taking Dallas in the puckline (+1.5 goals) priced at 1.63. Yes, the Stars are a good value at plus-money. But the safer play might be taking the insurance. This should be another tough game, so let's take the extra goal.
We also lean heavily to the UNDER in a series that's gone UNDER in 5/6 (the only OVER came on a last-second goal).
Dallas +1.5 and OVER 5.5 are our two recommendations.
Calgary lays too high a price here, as Dallas has proven they can stick with the Flames, especially on defence. They're worth a bet, along with the UNDER 5.5
