NHL Playoffs Start on Monday
This year, the NHL has done something spectacular. In the first round of the playoffs, there will be four games played each day, stretching pretty much from the late afternoon up until close to midnight.
Bravo!
This gives hockey fans a chance to pick which games to watch and enjoy the action non-stop.
We can't wait!
So, will the Tampa Bay Lightning three-peat? Or, could the Colorado Avalanche and Florida Panthers -- both of which ended up with the best W-L records in their conferences -- be unstoppable? Or, could we possibly see an under-the-radar team emerge in this year’s Stanley Cup playoffs?
Monday features four Game 1s:
Boston-Carolina (7 pm EDT);
Tampa Bay-Toronto (7:30 pm EDT);
St. Louis-Minnesota (8:30 pm EDT); and
Los Angeles-Edmonton (9 pm EDT)
Tuesday also features four Game 1s:
Pittsburgh-New York (7 pm EDT);
Washington-Florida (4:30 pm EDT);
Nashville-Colorado (8:30 EDT); and
Dallas-Calgary (9 pm EDT)
Our Prediction (powered by Pointspreads.ca):
As we recommended in our NBA playoff analysis (Round 2), we like the idea of picking a live underdog with strong upside potential and betting that team at plus money to win the series.
In the NHL playoffs' first round, we like the St. Louis Blues (priced at 2.30 to advance) versus the Minnesota Wild.
The Blues finished just 4 points behind the Wild, but scored more goals and allowed fewer goals than their opponent this season.
St. Louis should be closer to even money, so we love getting +130 back on our investment.
