Canada Beats China at 2022 Winter Olympics, Advances to Round of 8

Less than 48 hours after the Canadian Mens' Team thoroughly dominated the Chinese national team 5-zip on their home ice in Beijing, the rematch resulted in another easy 5-goal victory.

With a 7-2 win, Canada advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's hockey tournament and is now back on track to win the gold medal, provided they can run the table and win three more games.

However, the competition gets much tougher in the next round. Canada moves on to face Sweden in the quarters.

Here's the complete next round of matchups, all set for Wednesday (that is, "Wednesday Beijing time"):

(1) United States vs. (8) Slovakia (puck drop Tuesday 8 pm PT)

(2) Finland vs. (10) Switzerland (puck drop Tuesday 10 pm PT)

(3) Russian Olympic Committee vs. (6) Denmark (TBD)

(4) Sweden vs. (5) Canada (TBD)

UPDATE:  The Candians will be playing Sweden Wednesday in the quarterfinals 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT.
