"Celtics Getting the Green" -- Pointspreads' Daily Betting Notes: Thursday, Mar. 4th

Stat of the Day:  The Toronto Raptors (17-18) have been devastated by COVID protocols.  They lost four players in their game two nights ago, and got hammered in a 24-point loss to Chicago.  Tonight, the Raptors play in Boston, winners of four straight.  It's the Celtics -8 or nothing here, for those who follow our Bet of the Day.

Thursday's wagering menu offers lots of betting action in the three major sports

Major League Baseball is underway in the daytime (exhibition games) with a whopping 14 games on the diamond.  These pre-season games are tricky to bet on, especially with some wacky new rules in effect, but at least there's plenty of action.

In hockey and basketball the key word for the day is MISMATCHES.  There's lots of big favourites playing teams that are struggling.

The NHL offers ten games on the ice.  Red hot Toronto, fresh off an ass kicking over Edmonton (which was outscored 13-1 in the three games series) travels to Vancouver as a betting favourite (-125).  The North division offers two other apparent mismatches, as well.  Calgary hosts Ottawa (-200) and Montreal is laying chalk (-155) to Winnepeg.

The NBA features nine games.  All of these matchups take place this evening.  Keep an eye on the Raptors, who had played so well the previous three weeks to get back to the .500 mark.  Now roster depleted, they're getting +8 at Boston tonight.  The Celtics have suddenly won four straight and should dominate this apparent mismatch.
