Stanley Cup Futures Recommendations
First, let's post the standard disclaimers: Past results are no indication of future outcomes. Gamble with your head, not over it.
Second, it's hockey season. So, we want to be in action for the remainder of the schedule, next followed by the NHL playoffs (in April and May), and finally the 2021-22 Stanley Cup which is expected to hoist the trophy sometime this summer. Making a futures bet right now allows us to ride with a team all the way until the end.
The Stanley Cup futures prices at Spreads.ca are constantly on the move. However, one thing has remained constant since the season began. Colorado Avalanche, currently boasting the NHL"s best record (39-10-4), remain the odds-on favourites to win the Stanley Cup. They're currently priced at +400.
Other favourites include defending champion Tampa Bay (+500), Florida (+800), and Carolina (+950). Toronto is also getting some support from hockey bettors, currently listed at +1000 (10-1 odds).
Here's the futures odds as of Tuesday, March 1st:

OPINION (courtesy of Pointspreads.ca)
A convincing case can certainly be made for any of the top 5 teams which are listed at favourites in Stanley Cup futures, especially the Maple Leafs at that price.
Nonetheless, we see exceptional values with two teams right now: Boston (32-17-4), heating up right now with a 5-game win streak, is listed at +2200.
And, St. Louis (32-14-6), which shocked the NHL by winning it all just three seasons ago, is an exceptional betting value at +2400. The Blues play in the shadow of Colorado within the same division and remain under the radar as an undervalued futures bet.
