NHL Preview: Bruins at Avalanche
Can the Bruins Cool Off the Red Hot Avalanche?
GAME PREVIEW
The Boston Bruins (24-13-2, fourth in the Atlantic) head west to Colorado to faceoff against the Avalanche (29-8-3, first in the Central) in the premier game for Wednesday night. Start time in 10:05 pm ET.
The Avalanche, currently listed at #1 on most power rankings, are 18-2-1 on their home ice. That's the NHL's best home record, by far. Colorado also leads the NHL in scoring and is averaging 4.1 goals per game. Avs' scoring is led by Mikko Rantanen, with 22 pucks in the net, so far this season.
Meanwhile, the mighty Bruins are just as impressive. The Bruins are playing at the Avalanche's high level, posting an 11-3 record since the start of the new year. However, Boston also enjoyed the benefit of a long 7-game homestand, and is now going back on the road for three games out west. The road has been good to the Bruins, who are 10-5-1 on the highway this season, which is one of the league's best win percentages.
WHAT ARE THE SPREADS EXPERTS RECOMMENDING?
The Bruins pose a solid threat, but betting against the Avs right now would be like jumping in front of a freight train. Lay the favourite at -185.
