A Busy Saturday Night on the Ice in Canada

NHL Oct 22, 2022

Saturday's busy schedule includes 13 NHL games -- featuring all seven Canadian teams. Here's a look at three of the best games on the early season card.

One of the most intriguing games on Saturday night is Edmonton (2-2) hosting the NHL's only remaining undefeated team, St. Louis (2-0). Both teams take the ice at Rogers Place at 4:05 pm ET.

Later, many Canadian eyes will be focused on the Toronto (3-2) at Winnipeg (2-2) matchup. The puck drops at Bell MTS Centre at 7:05 pm ET.

The nightcap game is Carolina (3-1) at Calgary (3-1) in what looks to be a tough, lower-scoring battle. The late game at the Scotiabank Saddledome begins at 10:05 pm ET.

Here are the odds on all the NHL games for Saturday, according to SPREADS.CA:

Predictions (powered by Pointspreads.ca):

Three games equals three bets.  Agree?

Note the very high total on the St. Louis-Edmonton game, which is 7 goals. We like the UNDER in this game since it takes 8 goals to lose. Even though the Blues and Oilers can both score goals, an O/U of 7 is a high bar to reach.

Toronto has won three of their last four games. They've played well offensively during the stretch, while Winnipeg has struggled defensively. Laying a small price on Maple Leafs as the favourite to beat the Jets seems reasonable.

The Carolina-Calgary game could go either way. Both teams possess plenty of talent, and the goaltending matchup looks even. However, the Hurricanes are undefeated in four straight meetings with the Flames. Getting plus money as the underdog, we like Carolina as a good getting value.

Our three bets for Saturday are TORONTO (1.62) , CAROLINA (2.10), and ST. LOUIS/EDMONTON UNDER 7.
