Can Dallas Hang With Golden State One More Time?

nba May 26, 2022

After avoiding elimination in Game 4, Dallas must win again tonight and will need three straight wins to complete the first comeback from 3-0 down in NBA history. Can they do it?  Probably not – but they might be a good value tonight to extend the series.

On Tuesday night, many fans and bettors expected the mighty Golden State Warriors to put away and sweep the Cinderella Dallas Mavericks.

The Warriors were up 3 games to none, and seemingly headed straight to the NBA Finals. Then, the Mavericks came together as a team and played one of their best games of the season, hitting a blistering percentage of floor shots en route to a shocking blowout victory.

Now down 3-1, the Mavs will have to repeat that performance on the road in Game 5 to extend this best-of-seven series.

Tip-off in San Francisco is Thursday at 6:00 pm PST.

As expected, Spreads.ca lists the Warriors as 7-point favourites. Golden State is an overwhelming 1.33 favourite on the moneyline, which comes back at 3.50 on Dallas. The O/U is 216.

Prediction (powered by Pointspreads.ca):

If you're strictly looking for value, the Mavericks on the moneyline are the play.

It's not that we expect Dallas to win. However, getting nearly 3-1 odds in any game with Dallas' level of talent is worth a shot.

We don't make longshot wagers often, but this looks like a good value. We've seen Dallas go on the road and win before in games they weren't expected (recall Game 7 at Phoenix).

So, we'll take a flyer with a moneyline bet on the Mavericks.
