Will the Raptors Continue to Roll?

Key Stat:  The LA Lakers are 1-9 ATS in their last ten matchups against the Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors have been red hot lately.

They're in the midst of a West Coast road trip, with tonight's game in Los Angeles against the struggling (and vastly overrated) Lakers.  They're also riding an impressive three-game winning streak.  Good times.

Indeed, Toronto (37-30) has surprised fans and bettors alike, with two phenomenal games this past weekend – both road wins versus top teams.  They beat both Phoenix (117-112) and Denver (127-115).  Now, the Raptors are almost certainly playoff bound and are challenging for the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference.

Spreads.ca offers an extensive wagering menu on this matchup.  The Raptors are favoured by -5 versus the LA Lakers (29-38).  The betting total is 225.

This has been a season steadily on the rise for the Raptors.  They opened with a mediocre 23-23 SU and 25-21 ATS stretch – despite getting tagged as underdogs in 26 of those contests.

However, Toronto has played terrific basketball since January.  The Raptors enter Monday night riding a solid 14-7 SU and 13-8 ATS stretch – while scoring 112.5 PPG and allowing just 110.5 PPG across that span.

The Lakers, meanwhile, continue to slide.  Many nights, they're even getting booed at home.  Los Angeles stumbled out to a dismally slow start to the season, especially as one of the pre-season betting favourites to win it all, as the Lakers went just 7-14 ATS in the opening stretch – which was primarily chalked up to growing pains associated with the offseason acquisition of Russell Westbrook.  That's now widely regarded as a monumental mistake.

The Lakers have maintained a similarly deficient pace since then, considering Los Angeles enters Monday night riding a head-scratching 18-27 SU mark and a 20-25 ATS skid – despite getting tagged as favorites in 26 of those matchups.

As for recent results, the Lakers are a woeful 3-10 SU and 4-7-1 ATS in their last 13 games, getting outscored by an average of 4 PPG.

Tonight, we like Toronto to continue their winning ways.  Two games against Phoenix and Denver, both wins, gives this team an added boost and with the Lakers teetering in implosion, we feel confident laying -5 with the favourite.
