"Fade the Bad Teams" -- Pointspreads' Daily Betting Notes: Monday, Mar. 15th
Betting Stat of the Day: The dismal Buffalo Sabres are on a 10-game losing streak.
Bet of the Day Update: Our BET OF THE DAY lost yesterday, which makes two losses in a row. In the NBA, the Portland Trailblazers failed to show up in a game against the league's worst team and lost outright as 5-point favourites. Following the weekend's disappointing 0-2 results, this still marks a nice 10-5 run on our last 15 free plays. Since the start of February, our BET OF THE DAY has gone a very respectable 24-11 on the daily selections.
Major League Baseball
Major League Baseball has reached the midway point of training camps and exhibition games. We're just two weeks away from opening day, on April 1st.
As we've posted here before, it remains profitable to bet on hot teams that appear to take these "meaningless" games more seriously than opponents. For example, the Kansas City Royals have been the best team in the majors, going 11-3, including multiple wins as an underdog. The reigning world champion Los Angeles Dodgers lead the Cactus League at 7-4 and the Miami Marlins have gone a very respectiable 5-2 on a limited schedule.
Conversely, the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and Houston Astros are a combined 10-30 in the exhibition season and are probably good teams to fade the rest of the way when the price is right.
Question: Why are the ChiSox favoured over the Cubs today? Might be worth a look and a wager.

NHL Odds and Notes
It's a busy night in hockey as nine games take to the ice on Monday.
Three games are shceduled in the North Division, while the first-place Toronto Maple Leafs get the night off. That might be a good thing since the red-hot Leafs went ice cold in a stunning 3-2 loss to last-place Ottawa on Sunday.

NBA Odds and Notes
Monday night features eight games the NBA court.
Purely from a spectator point of view, this is a great night for basketball. The surging Knicks visit conference favourite Brooklyn for the battle of New York. Dallas hosts the LA Clippers in one of the better Western Conference rivalries. And the Lakers head to Golden State, which always seems to be a good game to watch, and bet on.
